Dr. Laurie Wadsworth is the recipient of the 2019 Ryley-Jeffs Memorial Award.

For over 30 years, Dr. Wadsworth’s pioneering and innovative career has focused on enhancing practice-based communication strategies, informing visionary policy change for healthier Canadians, and advocating for rigorous qualitative research methodologies within health research. Much of this work occurred in public health and academic settings. She investigates mass media messages to understand the roles of food in society and studies the historical roots of dietetics. Dr. Wadsworth’s goal is to inspire audiences to re-examine their approach to life and practice – to see the world through a different lens. She approaches this transformational learning by highlighting the values of inclusivity, self-awareness and critical thought processes.
