Diabetes Canada released the 2018 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Diabetes in Canada earlier this year.   


In this video, Dr Houlden reviews the major changes to the guidelines with relevance to registered dietitians. Key changes to the guidelines include the participation of a wider range of stakeholders, most importantly the inclusion of those living with diabetes. Viewers will learn the key strategies for the nutritional management of diabetes and the emphasis on individualization within these key strategies.

Speaker: Dr. Robyn Houlden is Professor and Chair of the Division of Endocrinology at Queen’s University, Kingston, ON, and a consultant in adult endocrinology at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Houlden played a steering role in the 2003, 2008 and 2013 Canadian Diabetes Association Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of diabetes and was Chair of the 2018 Diabetes Canada edition.
