Measuring quality is crucial to ensuring excellent nutrition care is being provided in long-term care (LTC) settings. But how is “quality” measured? By tracking performance indicators that identify potential concerns (e.g. wounds), decisions regarding allocation of resources to create improvements that benefit all residents can be made. Our speakers present recent evidence that suggests that nutrition as an indicator of quality of care is not being addressed, and share the results of a provincial survey regarding quality measurements. Carol and Twinkle facilitate an open discussion on how we can collectively bring nutrition issues to the forefront in LTC and strive for consistent measurement indicators across the provinces.
