Finding a way forward for traditional foods in health care

BUY ITEM | $ 39.95

Colonization and the residential school system are among many factors that eliminated Indigenous peoples’ access to their traditional foods. But as health care begins to adopt the mantra that “food is medicine”, traditional foods must not be left behind. This session will explore the complex challenges of serving traditional foods in health care and provide approaches to increasing the service of these foods.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze what constitutes traditional foods versus Indigenous recipes;
  • Describe the facilitators and barriers to procuring and serving traditional foods in health care; and
  • Apply these learnings to your own jurisdiction.
