This Learning on Demand session comes with two presentations on this topic, plus a bonus CFDR research presentation. See below for more information.

Presentation #1: Bridging research with lived experience in developing transgender & gender diverse nutrition care guidelines

One of the most important roles of a dietitian is to provide nutrition advice that is relevant to a person's culture, ethnicity and dietary preferences. This session will introduce transgender and gender-diverse nutrition care guidelines, and provide tools and recommendations to incorporate awareness of gender identity and the NCGs in dietetics practice and education.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Incorporate the transgender and gender diverse-appropriate nutrition care guidelines into education and practice;
  • Recognize how honouring gender identity (including use of actual names/pronouns) literally saves lives and is consistent with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; and
  • Take action to implement the presenters’ recommendations to incorporate awareness of gender identity and the NCGs in dietetics practice and education.

Date of Presentation: May 26, 2021, DC National Conference

Speakers:

  • Catherine Morley, PhD, PDt, FDC
